URTICARIA (HIVES)

At the Centre for Allergy & Asthma Townsville (CAAT), we provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, education, and management of acute and chronic urticaria (hives). Common symptoms of hives include raised, itchy red or skin-coloured welts, swelling of the skin (angioedema), burning or stinging sensations, and rashes that may appear and disappear over hours. We help identify potential triggers, optimise treatment, and support patients in achieving better symptom control and quality of life. For patients with persistent, distressing, or treatment-resistant urticaria, we can facilitate timely referral to an allergy or immunology specialist when required.
